This explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it. We collect as little as we can while still running a fair leaderboard.
What we collect from creators
When you create an account: your display name, username, email address, and (if you sign in with Google) the basic profile information Google provides.
As you compete: the videos you submit, your bids, your credit transactions, referrals, and when you last signed in.
What we collect from visitors
You do not need an account to browse the board or click a video. When you click through to YouTube we record the click so the creator can be credited fairly. That record includes a first-party visitor identifier, a one-way hash of your IP address, a hash of your browser type, the page you came from, and the time.
We do not store raw IP addresses with click records — they are hashed so they cannot be read back, and are used only to tell repeat clicks apart from new ones and to filter automated traffic.
Why we need it
To count clicks fairly and pay the right creator; to stop fraud, bots and self-clicking; to show creators their own statistics; and to operate the credit system. We also use your email address to send account and competition emails.
Our lawful basis for the click records is our legitimate interest in running a fair rewards system that cannot be gamed. Without them, the leaderboard could not work.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies, all necessary for the service to function:
- a sign-in cookie, so you stay logged in;
- a visitor cookie, so the same person clicking the same video within 24 hours is not counted twice;
- a referral cookie, kept for up to 30 days, so the creator who invited you is credited when you join.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services that run the platform: our hosting and database providers, our email delivery provider, and Google/YouTube when we look up the public details of a video you submit.
Public information — your username, video title, channel name, bid and click count — is visible to everyone on the leaderboard. That is the point of the board.
How long we keep it
Account and credit records are kept while your account exists, and afterwards in anonymised form where we need them for platform history or fraud investigations. Detailed click records are kept only as long as needed for fraud checks and analytics; aggregate counts remain.
Your choices
You can see your own data on your dashboard, correct your account details in settings, and request deletion of your account at any time. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to a copy of your data or to object to certain processing — email info@outrankvideo.com and we will help.
Account emails (verification, password reset, credit expiry, account status) are necessary and cannot be switched off while you hold an account.
Contact
Privacy enquiries, data requests and deletion requests go to info@outrankvideo.com, and we answer every one.
Full details of the data controller will be published here in advance of general availability. The platform is currently in an early access period.
